


About the Role
We're looking for a Lead Backend Engineer to own the architecture and development of our core backend systems. This is a high-trust, high-ownership role at the center of how our platform operates. You'll be making the critical technical decisions that define scalability, reliability, and performance across our services, while setting the engineering standards the rest of the team builds on. You won't just be writing code. You'll be thinking about how systems hold up under load, how failures get contained, and how the infrastructure we build today scales with where we're going. At the same time, you'll be actively mentoring and guiding backend engineers on the team, raising the standard of work across the board. Responsibilities
- Design and implement scalable, resilient backend architecture across core platform services
- Lead critical technical decisions and set engineering standards for code quality, deployment, and system design
- Mentor and guide backend engineers through code reviews, technical discussions, and day-to-day collaboration
- Optimize system performance and ensure high availability across production environments
- Build and maintain robust API and microservices infrastructure that supports trading and platform operations
- Identify and resolve bottlenecks, reliability issues, and performance gaps proactively
Requirements
- 4+ years of experience in backend engineering with demonstrated ownership of production systems
- 1-2+ years of experience in a technical lead, staff, or system design capacity
- Strong command of distributed systems, scalable infrastructure, and database design
- Experience designing and deploying microservices-based architectures in real production environments
- Proficiency in at least one modern backend language (Node.js, Go, Python, or similar)
- Track record of building systems that perform reliably under high load
Nice to Have
- Experience working in crypto, fintech, or trading-adjacent environments
- Familiarity with low-latency systems or real-time data pipelines
- Experience with cloud-native infrastructure and CI/CD at scale
- Exposure to exchange APIs, order book systems, or financial data infrastructure
